I will check this out tonight but this could be the issue because not all carbs can just attach the cable to the existing kickdown lever. I know that Lokar sells a bracket that keeps the geometry correct between the two so that you can go full throttle without bottoming out. My cable is set where there is barely any tension on the cable at idle.

Well Geo, now you have me wondering, when the cable is depressed it does bottom on the inner casing. Is this correct? I don't know for sure but my car seems to work fine with this setup but it does make me wonder if that is limiting my throttle movement on top end. The car seems to be performing well but

I have the Lokar setup too, and I had to drop the pan turn the arm etc. I installed the Lokar kick Down set-up, the Lokar AOD 8in shifter and their Elimanator style throttle pedal and my spring looks the same as yours. But.... I haven't tried driving it yet, so I hope it's right, even called Lokar to verify before I dropped the Pan.

I took my Lokar cable apart and trimmed the black insulation inside the spring. Have not been under there in awhile but I recall getting the bunching out.

Hmm... I got my setup with the kickdown on the 3 pan head. I'll know in about a week. Not bunched at all. We'll see.
