Searched the forums, but couldnt find an answer. I will soon be replacing the completely stock exhaust on a 93 GT. Is there a difference in exhaust design between T-5 and AOD based cars? Lately I have been browsing classifieds ads and noticed some folks specifying their exhaust to be off of either their T-5 or AOD. Now that I think about it, perhaps there may be some differences. I am looking to put on an aftermarket 2.5 inch h-pipe and catback on my aod, but will be doing a t-5 conversion in a few months. I wouldnt want to buy and install a new exhaust for the aod, only to have to scrap it once i change to a T-5. So if anyone knows if there are any diffs, please let know, thanks.

There are no differences between AOD and T5 exhaust designs. I bought my headers and h-pipe when my car was AOD and now it's T5 and there isn't one problem. If anything, it sounds better.
I believe there is a difference. The AOD bellhousing is larger than the T5, so the systems allow for that. If you could probably use a t5 h-pipe on a aod car as long as you don't add headers. Adding headers will cause a lot of rubbing and vibration, as evidenced on my friend's car. CJ, your system was ok since the T5 is narrower. If you went t5 to aod you may have had some problems. Same for you too 5ltr just get an AOD system if you can.

Ah, I stand corrected. So its not the transmission but the oilpan? What gets me is that my friend got a "T5" h-pipe and headers, and the thing rubs on the trans near the collectors, as well as the cross member. I guess we need to loosen the thing up again and take a closer look at it. Any advice?

Yeah, it has nothing to do with tranny size... I had an AOD and converted to T5 and I had tha same exhaust all along...
