AOD tranny into 68 Mustang

yes you will need a new crossmember, there are several companies that make them and most mustang parts suppliers will stock them. driveshaft length will most likely need to be changed as well, although some people can by without having to change anything on the driveshaft. other things you will need are the correct block plate for the aod tranny, a new flexplate with correct bolt pattern for the aod convertor, TV cable and the correct adapter for whatever carb you are using, you might also have to change your exhaust especially in the area of the H-pipe, since you are going from a manual trans to the aod you will also need a new starter, this would be a good time to get a new style starter that has the soleniod built in, since it is so much smaller and lighter and actually has more torque than the old starters. of course you will need to fabricate cooler lines DO NOT use rubber hose for the entire length of the cooler lines, please, i have seen some really nice looking cars burn to the ground because of ruber cooler lines. another thing to watch out for is if you are using headers, some long tube headers will not clear the aod and you may already know a lot of this stuff but you will need a new driveshaft yoke as well. good luck and if you need any more answers there are several websites that show how to do it, one i can thing of off the top of my head is my buddy eric's www.trinitysmustangs.com go to the mods section
