aod with cobra cpu?

my dads 86 has the FMS kit on it for MAF.. X3Z computer and im wondering if its possible to run a aod with the cobra cpu since cobras didnt have a aod edition.. its a 5spd now but it would be economically and cheaper to run a AOD right now.. any ideas?

The computer computer is calibrated for 24# injectors.

So in order to run it you would need 24# injectors on the car and a MAF calibrated for 19's since the calibration conversion takes place in the ECU.

The Cobra comp sucks anyway. Sell it on Ebay or trade it for a A9L or A9P computer.

An AOD doesn't care what computer the car has, since it is controled by the TV cable and engine RPMs only. The computer doe not care, since it is for a 5 speed. Now if it is an AODE, that is another story.

yes the aod cares. you can't run an a 5 speed eecu like an a9l with an auto. car will not run right. the tv cable doesn't control the tranny.

There is NO function of an AOD that is controlled by the EEC. The shifts are controlled by the TV cable and the governor located in the tail shaft. The newer AODE is very similar to the 4R70W, and these both are controlled by the EEC.

i ran a A9L in my 89 GT with a AOD for 2 months untill the guy i borrowed it from needed it back...car ran fine...i had to buy a new computer so i got one for a 5 speed car which is supps to be a rebuilt A9L and it works great as well. Although I couldn't tell a performance difference from a A9P and the A9L....
