I have a '91 GT drivetrain. We rebuilt the engine and now there's a problem when installoing the tranny. Everything lines up. All bolts can be started and tightened down.

However, after it's all tight, the engine can't rotate (wrench on harmonic balancer bolt) anymore. We back all of the bolts out and the engine can then rotate.

Something's bigding up. There's NO new parts. Original flywheel, t/c, and tranny. What the heck?

Any ideas?

No starter.

Better be the same crank. Otherwise the machine shop swapped it w/o us knowing.

It really seems to me like the t/c isn't sitting back into the bell housing correctly.

I've noticed there's 3 shafts coming out of the tranny into the bell housing. The center (smallest diameter) shaft can pull completly out of the tranny w/o any effort. Is that a problem? While moving the tranny once, it tried to fall out.

pull the convertor out, notice the flats, make sure they are indexed to the flats in the front pump. i've seen guy toast e4od's this way. they don't usually smile. when your bellhousing is buttoned up, you should be able to rock the convertor back and forth by hand, making a jingling sound in the flexplate holes. if you can't take it apart try again.you WILL be buying a pump and convertor at the very least, if you don't do this.

set the t/c in spin it around after a few times it will drop in place if it dont put it in gear and sping the t/c around the t/c drop in for the spines to line up some time is it is a pain in the butt to do:mad:
