I just purchased a bone stock aode 95gt. After finishing the exhaust, I wanted to beef up the tranny/drivetrain, and I'm clueless on my aode (used to have a 95gt with a T-5). How much, and how will a torque converter help me? I have heard a 1900-2000 stall is best. Is this true? Any feed back on the B&M "shift plus" plug-in shift kit? Is firming up your shifts good for your tranny's longevity? THX.

I have a 3000 stall but I believe around 2400 is best for a mild build. I have the B&M converter but do not recomend it, I believe Edge, PI or Art Carr would be better choices. As for the B&M shift Plus I had one and remmoved it because it did'nt make an ET difference but I could feel the shift firmer. When I took it aff my brother put it on his car and the trans died about 6,000 miles later (not sure if the Shift Plus was to blame). I now have a JMS chip to fix my shift points (due to 4.10's) and have the shift firmed up on the chiip and I'm very happy. I have basic bolt-ons and DR's and pull 1.9 60 ft.

Trans Go shift kit.... Knocked off a tenth or two and gave me a 2nd gear scratch with the 3.73s

Street Edge Racing Converter 3,000 stall took me from 15.2s two weeks before to 14.58s after the install.

Thx for the info guys. I'm gonna try and make it out to the track this week and see how slow my car is in stock form before I start ordering some goodies. With overdrive on, what kind of freeway rpm can I expect from 3:73's and 4:10's at about 65mph?

for shift kits, i recommend TransGo. for stalls, you just can't beat the guarantee given by edge, plus, i know gcomfx can vouch for them. oh and don't forget the tranny cooler.

I've got 3.73 in my AODE at about 65 Im prolly around 2000 rpm's. With 4.10's your probably only looking at 200-300 more rpms, nothing major. A lot of guys recomend 4.10's for auto's but Im happy with my choice. To each his own. But gears are the best bang for the buck hands down. I did exhaust gears CAI and pullies and dropped from 15.2 to 14.4.

I'm working on a Group Buy with Andre at Edge Racing Converters... I'll post details tomorrow as I get a few final questions finalized.

It's sort of a 100mphClub.com discount, but he said I could post it on a few of the other sites I frequent. Since my club isn't just about stangs this is a Group Buy on a little bit of everything AODE, AOD, C-6, C-4 and 700r4 / 4L60e

Plus a discount will be given on TransGo Shift kits.

Deadline will be Nov. 15th of next month. So stay tuned!!!

BTW - I'll start a new thread when I have everything finalized.

I'd be interested in joining the group buy on a street edge and a transgo shift kit depending on price.

and if you can get a good deal, my brother would join in too but for a 4L60E

find out a price and if its a good deal, we'll sign up.

PA shift Kit and PI STallion Converter here, but Im different.

Converter's worth about 8% more HP from the fly to the ground, and about 12-15% more useable tq!

The GOOD price break is for the AODE - it's $50 off, plus the shift kits are way under $86 (I paid $120 for mine)

Here's the link:
http://www.100mphclub.com/b_pages/edgeconverter.htm

If you interested, that's kewl. If not, no pressure. Just trying to help repay the help I've received in what little way I can.

BTW - the long awaited video is on the page. LOL It was another quickie, but I think it shows what you want to see.

I'll post in a new thread with all this, probably shouldn't high-jack the new guys thread.

I only read the 94-95 section, but I posted in the 5.0 section and I think they moved my post.

Feel free to post this wherever you want.
