Are 3.90's too much gear?

I would think the focus would be more on 4th and 5th than 1st

I mean you spend more time in the higher gears

You only got the choice of 373's, 390's or 410's

Just do the math and use your common sense

The range of concern is between 355 and 410

410-355=55

Split the difference of 55 for say 28

Add 28 to 355 for 383
Subtract 28 from 410 for 382

It would be silly to consider 373's as there is not enough of a difference
from your 355's to go to the trouble and expense

THEREFORE

If you don't wanna go to the extreme of 410's
then
390's are gonna be the best compromise

With your current setup, I think 3.90's would work well for you..

Adding shorter gears will have the effect of giving you a closer ratio transmission.. So ALL of your gears will be shorter, and closer together..

I got 4.10's simply to eliminate the bog I had going from 1st to 2nd, along with more torque through the rpm range..

I do not think you would want or need 4.10's and 3.73's would be barely noticeable and probably not worth the money to do the swap.

I have always felt 3.90 is a great gear and is highly underused...

I wish I had them

I would agree but my 1st is a 2.87 unlike your 3.35 1st. It makes quite a diffrence. Its like me having a longer first than 3.27's with a t-5.

i wouldn't go any higher then 3.90. i got a lot less power then you but my stang is cruising 40-45ish at around 1900-2000 rpms with 4.30 ratio gears in 5th gear. im switching to 3.55's. i hear a lot of people saying 3.73 for a manual and 4.10 for an auto. from my experience with these bastard 4.30's i would stay clear of anything steeper than the 3.90 your thinking.

just my .02
