Are axle dampers and quad shocks the same thing?

Are axle dampers and quad shocks the same thing? Dumb question, but need to know, thanks.

Axle dampers are like a big rubber door stop, that sits above the rear end. Quad shocks run parallel to the ground in most cases from the rear end to the body. They are supposed to help stop wheel hop.

Um, no. They are indeed the same thing. Most part stores list them as "Axle Dampers". The other part is called a pinion snubber.

Technically, "quad shocks" are ALL FOUR (quad = four) rear shocks. The word "quad" comes from Ford's name for the (mid '84+) rear suspension system: "Quadra-Shock".

That doesn't stop people from calling just the axle dampeners quad shocks.
