are copper head gaskets any good

hello, i am about to change the gaskets on my 0.60 block with stock e7's. i want some good gaskets that will last a while. how good are these copper gaskets. summit says you can reuse them up to 5 times, i really don't car if i can reused them or not, i just want a good tight seal. will 351 gakets fit a 302 because milidon only showed one for a 351 but the ad under that one just said all SBF's. i searched and came up with little info

I'd just go down to my local AutoZone or O'Reilly's and pick up a couple of head gaskets for a 5.0L - 302. The odds are high that they'll be FelPro.

Copper head gaskets are known for having slight leaks. Many of the high end racers that use them (Gary Rohe is a good example) also run small amounts of stop leak in their coolant to help stop these small leaks. I would recommend a set of fel-pro head gaskets, I have always had EXCELLENT luck with their products.

i got felpros now and i think i have a bad gasket. i guess i can save the extra 40 bucks or more and get some more felpro's

go to your local machine/ performance shop and pick up a set of cometic head gaskets. they're reusable and BLOW PROOF. ive heard nothing but really good things about them. theyre $56 each though....

Stock ported E7's here on $15 (per side) Felpro autozone head gaskets. Oh yeah 7psi of boost too

I've never blown a headgasket, well excpe for the time one of my stock head bolts snapped. I would recomend ARP headbolts to help hold that head down tight. I reused my stock headbolts and like I said, one snapped.

i always reused them and no problems yet but i have been thinking about my options since i may have the motor out for a while. i want to get ARP rod bolts and maybe head bolts. both sets would be less than 100 bucks, i checked today

No need to use a MLS style gasket like the Cometics or Fel-Pro MLS on a combo like his, it is overkill. Most of the racers are using a MLS gasket instead of copper and a o-ring now, technology is a wonderful thing.

The stock replacement gaskets PT2's will work fine, around $15-$17 each as BlackFox stated.

I've heard you have to re-torque the heads from time to time with copper gaskets. Don't know if it's true or not, but that is what I was told once.

The MLS gaskets have been known to have minor coolant leakage like the coppers in some cases. Your supposed to have your heads/block machined to a certain roughness scale when using them. Then again, many people slap them on and have no issues. At any rate, I would just go with a stock replacement Fel-Pro in your case.
