I am looking into getting some P&P'd heads and was wondering if VT's heads are any good. I know they make kick a$$ engines and cams, just wondering about there heads.

Thanks

Never heard anything but great results from VT as a whole. I think modulardepot.com would help you with any questions you have about VT. There is also a ton of threads about them. Search for Stage Heads or something and you will get alot of hits.

Probably one of the top 3 for heads if not the best. However, if you simply want your current heads ported try Jason at Steen Racing. He has a great reputation and very good prices IMHO. Thats where my money is going this winter.

Is it a better deal to purchase aftermarket heads or get the stock heads P/P? (Cost and horsepower gain) I found a place here in GA that can PP your stock heads for $750.00.

How much can you gain from a PP job on a NA engine?

With cams and P/P you can see as much as 50 HP depending on if you go with oversize valves. Additionally, there are no aftermarket 4.6 2 valve heads. They are all stock heads with additional aftermarket processing.

Love my vt heads and cams. I gained 56 horsepower with the stage ii heads and cams. Can't remember exactly but i remember hearing some negative things about patriot heads.

Patriot has been earning a bad reputation both from Modular and LS1 owners. They have had problems with exhaust seats falling out. Then, the valve gets stuck open and blamo!!!! There goes a piston. They are also using Chinese parts in their heads and although I'm not a big "Buy American" person, I don't want Chinese parts in my heads. Chinese valve stem caps or Chinese floor mats would be fine, but not precise and fast moving parts inside my engine.

As far as my getting a KB above, I would love to, but it looks like I will be staying NA for quite some time due to upcoming tuition for grad school.

If P/P the stock heads vs. purchasing aftermarket heads are relatively the same. Is there any disadvantage to P/P the stock heads? It seems to be more cost affective!

Also, can you someone recommend a good cam to run with the fresh heads? I'm probably going to stay N/A and my car is not a daily driver.

VT have great heads.

Now, a stage 1 or standard port and polish as a whole isnt worth it because it doesnt increase the CFM much. Now a Stage II increase the flow on stock PI heads around 50-60CFM. That is a lot to think about when the standard port and polish will only gain around 15cfm.

There are no aftermarket heads. What you can buy is different companys port and polishing of stock pi heads. several company's out there doing it. I would buy cams that the company you are buying the heads from recommends to go with their heads. I chose VT heads and cams, and they are a good combination, but there are others out there. research well.
