are shorty headers worth it?

Most people say No, the are not worth it. Make it worth your time & money and let your mod motor breathe freely with a pair of long tubes. The difference in prices is pretty large, but the difference in power gains is pretty large too...

For me, (Ohio), I had to go with the BBK Shorty's (Cermaic Coated) due to emissions. :notnice: On my 03 GT daily driver.

I did'nt think the bbks were out yet. How do you like them? I am looking at a set of shorty headers myself as i too have to deal with emisions. I was looking at jba, but not sure yet.

What I don't understand is, why the long tubes are not emission legal. The emissions are filtered by the cats in any case. (They are catted mid-pipes for l/t aren't they?).

Blumi
They are legal except in California as long as you have cats. In california you cant touch the midpipe or manifolds.

And NO!!!! Shorties are a complete waste of money!

i have JBA shorties, and i got them because of CA emissions. I would get long tubes if i were into drag racing, but my road racing class wont let me get longtubes...i'll get bumped into the class with the totally tricked out z06s and vipers...and i can barely keep up with the stock vipers in my current class.

The BBK shortys are available now and they are the first shorty design to make any real power on the 4.6.

i've witnessed JBA's make 7-10 rwhp on a N/A car...i call that real power and i've yet to see any other shorty make more
I've seen the same. And I think it was Cobra Killer who showed that JBA shorties produce almost as much power as LTs on an S/C'd application. They will never make as much as LTs, but they are not as bad as everyone suggests.

The FRPP shorties don't make much though - they are a waste IMO.

yea I think Cobra Killer did that a little while ago.

I actually saw the gains in person on a dyno, in addition to seeing the ones that have been posted around the net.
It's just a case of people maybe hearing from one person how they make no power or something and then repeating it like it's gospel, or just being idiots and not knowing wtf they are talking about.
