I won't be able to make a reasonable offer honestly since I really will not have all the money at one time. I'm sure its worth $1500 but I'm not savy on engines.

What do you mean by flat tops ? As in the pistons ?
I'm not sure what Solid Roller means also.

I'll ask a buddy tomorrow and see what he says about the setup you have and get back with you.

Its only the block, not the whole motor.. I mean, you can usually get a 351 block for under $500, and get a $1500 stroker kit.

Solid roller cam uses solid lifters. Flat tops are the pistons (no valve reliefs and usually higher compression).

I believe new 351 stroker blocks with good parts go for 3-4k I believe.

I am locating a used block, I think I may have found one and from what I have heard the block itself is cheap.. stroker kit would obviously be 1500 or more. Not looking to buy a brand new block at all.

If I was looking for a new or slightly used block, I would have said that. Like I said, I am going to find a 351 block and may bore it out to a 408, depending on funds. If not then I will just rebuild the 351 and go from there.

A 408 is a stroker

Bore is just basically "grinding" out the cylinder walls (has to accept a bigger piston) to get a fresh cylinder wall for the rings to seat against.

The "stroke" part of the engine is what will cost you...

It will be a beast

Just a FYI: Most of those "new" blocks (sold by those like DSS, CHP, etc) are remanufactured and blueprinted. They are still used, just conditioned...

Edit: Get some AFR 225's, TFS R or ported Systemax, custom grind cam and you could see 500rwhp

Yeah, I know what a stroker motor is. I know the blocks you can buy with all the parts are expensive, but even if I keep it a 351, I'm sure I can keep it under 1500 for everything (all the internals except cam) and then go with AFR 185.

Yep, the rod ratio/length is the most effective part of the stroker. You just said "bore it out to a 408" but that was inaccurate. Boring does very little to cubic inch in most "rebuild cases". Obviously Brian extended the rebuild You got some great goals, stick with it

Yeah, I will probably still want a half way decent street car that isn't going to suck down the gas like a 408 would. One of my other buddies had a 351 in his 94 GT with VJ Heads, VJ Intake and cam of course. I never saw it run at the track but I know it was pushing some serious power. I think he only had $3500 into it.

Sorry I wasn't more specific on the bore part.

Well, Shawn had a 302 build with Edelbrock RPM heads and a holley systemax intake, custom cam.. then he built the 351 with the VJ heads and intake. I know the 302 ran a 10 something but I never heard if he ran the 351 setup or if he even got everything straightened out on it because he was having a lot of problems. I heard it a couple times and it sounded good, but I dont know if anyone ever saw it run.. racing or dragstrip.
