Arkansas Thread

lol, john.. On the way to look at some more cars today this 99-2002 trans am reved at me.. so I jump out and get beside him and we raced twice going from a roll.. his was a 6-spd btw.

first roll i was in third gear at 3000rpm, both hammer it and I immediately jump half a car, shift to fourth and his car is at my bumper... well, ok.. that was weird

second roll i was in 2nd at about 3000rpm, both hammer it and we're side by side until top middle of fourth when he is only half a car ahead of me...

that put more confidence in my car, but I know he should have taken me.. maybe his engine just has been ragged.. who knows. a race is a race and an LS1 trans am only put half a car on me.. w00t, he was from kansas .. but was a friendly guy and said good race

just to set everything straight, they moved all the "state" threads to their respective forums. arkansas has always been somewhat of a question mark. ive seen arkansas people post in the SE, MW, and even SW.

oh and by the way guys......my exhaust sounds fuggin mean now! thanks to jason for the help!

I used to live in AR (Cabot, about 15 years ago). I think most all the college teams are in the SE conference to play other teams, so that is where I figured AR threads would go.
Honestly, I don't care if you guys stay. Let me know if you want to move and it'll be done.:)

thats the way i always looked at it. Fayetteville is in northwestern AR and the hogs play in the SEC. i mean collegiate football conferences are by no means a geographical reference, but it made sense. we'll stick around for a while, as long as you bring punch and pie :)

Yep, exactly. He told me a while back that he shifted at 4700rpm when racing and driving skills play a role.

Ya'lls race sounds about right. I figured it would be a close one between the non-pi headed 98 against the 5.0L. I'm surprised dustin pulled at 90mph or so...that is when you shift with those 3:27's so the time between shifts may have caused that...good races!

Well guys my clutch is slipping pretty badly again...crapola

I am glad someone shut up the charger guy.. I was on the verge of going to get my car, and i know that wouldn't have been to good. I would have shown the charger guy what a supercharged 02 GT would do, but the one rod knocking might have came through the block.. :)

He probably suffers from the skip-shift feature in the V8 cars from 93-02 where if you get close to redline, the car nearly forces you to shift into a different gear. Its a weird feeling and it can be over ridden but I'm sure he doesn't know that and that is why he shifts so soon.

Are you referring to T-5 and T-45 trannies?

The skip shift feature is for gas mileage savings from what I have read. SLP makes a $30 dollar plug-n-play piece to get rid of that like you were saying. The skip shift won't affect his shifting. I haven't noticed it in the two I have driven (6spd's). We need to all head to the track soon...I wish I could get my "stuff" fixed ASAP.

Derek - Thanks for the back-up...you know what I'm talking about:) I know the blown 02 would take it for sure:nice:

My clutch is pretty bad. I guess Saturday night put an end to it. It isn't grabbing hard at all and is slipping pretty badly. Sometimes the mustang gods think I have money, I don't :( You know when you punch in second (sunday morning) and it spins to 6,000rpm but I'm only doing 40mph in 2nd something ain't right. And no the tires weren't spinning;)

Nah, Dustin's talking about the f-bodies t-56. The lt1's from 93-97 and ls1's from 98-02. They have a skip shift feature which doesn't allow you to downshift from let's say 4th to 2nd gear. You have to go to 3rd before you can do that or you get a grind:bang:

The only quirk that the t5 or t45 cars got is from 94+ where timing is retarded if you keep the pedal to the floor when you shift which kind of takes out the whole "powershifting" advantage. It can be bypassed as well by locking out timing or with a TwEECer. I want one of those badly...no money and I wouldn't know how to run that at all. Dustin is the computer genious...he probably could:)
