Arkansas Thread

Like I said, long story. I don't feel like explaining it. Might later and it still wouldn't make sense. Antifreeze (coolant) was in there. That is just my assumption on what happened.

I'm going to try to start it after work and go from there...I don't see any oil leaks anywhere abnormally but either way it is getting torn down and investigated...will see from there:nice:

I'm more bummed that I don't have a ride right now:( Someone pass a Kleenex...;)

jason - Only if my wallet grows mysteriously:) I'm going to see if I have oil pressure here in a few hours first and go from there. If that is the case, I would be tempted to rebuild it but then my exhaust would still be dented and I would be even poorer. So I don't know...lol.

4u2nv - Forgive me but I want to put an offer out there to these local guys to see if they know anyone that wants a new fiberglass 3 in. cowl hood. It is for sale...I need money to help with possible problems. Is that my one strike;)

Also to you local guys, do you guys no any machinist? Prices? Just looking for some competition and competiveness:)

Do it!
No strikes at all for anyone, just overly aggressive e-thugs who think this is a place to spar. ;)

NAPA in Russellville has a machine shop.. I'm sure you know that.

I'm not going to know if they are warped until I pull them off;) Hey, how much did the fresh cylinder walls cost you from napa? (bore)

The hood is a bolt-on hood. I bought it from 50resto 2 years ago. Been sitting ever since...unpainted.

Dustin - Wow...that is awfully cheap...Was that a hone or a bore? I have always assumed it would be somewhere around $25-30 per cylinder...if it is $10 that would be awesome...

Brian - Yeah man, I've been wondering where you been...how's things going? Hows the stang? Get the "dent" fixed?

John told me that is what they charge to bore the block. If you want to do compression and crack checks it costs $50 I know that. Costs $150 to do balance.

Those are good prices... I won't need compression checks because I will give them the blocks. That is with the heads on (usually engine in car). I'll check for cracks visually after I clean the block off real nice. Thanks for the figures...

I have learned that on machine work you usually get what you pay for, I know some other places that you could check with before you decide on someone to do the work for you. You would'nt want to spend a lot of money on a good rotating assembly and then throw it in a block with crooked bores and jacked up cam bearings...etc. Have you ever called Kuntz and Co.? You would be surprised on how similar the prices are to the local shops. That is just my opinion. I have had lots of work done there, no disappointments except it usually takes longer than the local guys.I have also had napa do work for me, no complaints there either. It really just depends on what you are going to be doing with your engine.Blah Blah Blah...
