Good point. I see what the police were saying they trying to do, but they went about it completely wrong.

To put my point another way..... .........this is why I don't live in California. The mods I've done to my car have supported the local and state economy in a very positive way! I plan on supporting my local economy even further in the upcoming years too.

they dont need a warrant to search basically anything that the driver can reach from the drivers seat. the slang for it is the "lunge rule". its for the safety of the officers. and also, they dont need a warrant if the owner of the vehicle gives permission to search, which usually happens because people are intimidated/confident that they dont have anything to worry about and dont want to piss the cops off. not that i agree with what happened as it sounds shiesty but most of the arguments prolly wont hold up in court. Search and seizure is different for a vehicle than a house or person (although rules do change state to state so i could be completely wrong seeing as how im not from nor have i ever been to cali...but i can only imagine that their laws are twice as ghey!)

First let me say Police do a job that really is a job no one really wants to do. I respect the law and the uniformed officer of the law. I have family that are police as well as have known several in my life as neighbors ect. Lastly...I understand it is a crap job and thanks for doing it...just remember you chose to do this no one put a gun to your head and said do this or else...

IMHO- the idea of the Patrole officer is more of a state run mafia. The idea is if you dont have X number of officers or take a stance that more is better (not the case) something "might" happen. Enforce crime that is mostly "stumbled" upon very little detective work is ever done so you end up with in some cases armed thugs running around with a badge. The drain of patrole officers on local gov. makes the officer revenue creator or "earner" resulting in the need to enforce traffic.

Officers do help when they can and a certain number are needed...who is to say what that number is???? is the tricky part. Sadly those officers are forced to go out "earning" money rather than protecting and searving the public. Granted enforcing traffic does provide an amount of needed safty on the roads...but how many times have you seen REALLY stupid crap since a cop is not around?

Those that are police, thank you. Most go into the profession to make a difference but generally end up becoming jadded after a few years. There are a lot of good police. Sadly it is also a case were the bad apples make the rest look rotten.

California is the land of fruits and nuts that is the leading edge of IMHO a large problem with the nation.

I just got a ticket for going 75 in a 70!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What kinda crap is that, I havent had a ticket in over 10 years....... And I got it in my VW golf..... God I love cali.....

If you get pulled over, and you don't have that CARB sticker on your parts, its YOUR FAULT! That is no BS. Or you could keep the stickers in the glove box and show them to the officer.

If you are running around breaking the law, then why get pissed at police for enforcing the law? If you find the laws too restrictive, change them or move somewhere else where those laws don't exist. If you want to race or look at fast cars, go to the track. If there isn't a track around, then start one or move somewhere where there is one.

If a bunch of douche bags were laying strips and driving like idiots in the parking lot of the business that I started with my blood, sweat, and tears, I'd call the cops too.

What they should have done is formed a legit club, talked to the business owner(s) affected, and asked if they could use their parking lot to meet in. Then the business owner(s) agree, and start advertising around it. Gradually the meetings get bigger, until they are an area tradition and older folks with the really nice stuff start showing up. Then the business benefits, us car people benefit, and instead of cops having to raid a meeting of a bunch of meat heads, they are in the crowd with people admiring the same cars. Cops like nice cars too!

Just my two cents. It's all about communication.

You should come to Atlanta. We average about 20mph+ over the speed limit on our Interstates with almost no chance of a ticket. In fact, the police are regularly on the news stating that they only look for those doing 85mph or higher. On weekends, 80mph is many times the average speed for traffic, even in the slow lane. This is not fun or amusing to visitors though when you consider that lots of big rigs and other large vehicles are part of the flow of traffic.

Drive 5 miles outside of the "metro Atlanta area" to the smaller rural areas and you can find yourself in the same situation with a ticket for going 5mph over the limit.

Kind of makes me wonder why we have 55mph limits on our Interstates when it is never enforced as an actual limit.
