Now i have some money to spend, so i was thinking the possibilites. One, a accufab TB and Plenum, or 3.73 gear kit. Im curious on which one you guys would take. And also, i am not trying to provoke street racing.... but has anyone (on a track or runway strip) tested out the top speed of a mustang gt with 3.73 gears??

my car has hit the rev limiter in 5th gear with 3.90's at 153 mph. (on a closed course)
i do have a T56 so the ratio is a little different.

you dont want to pull to the limiter in your OD gear. it puts a massive strain on the engine!

you will never run out of gear with the 3.73's. before my s/c i couldnt pull past 145 mph with the 3.90's and every bolt on possible.

go with the gears, most bang for the buck

Look into the Professional Products t/b and plenum. You can score both of them for 200 bucks total. Accufab is the shiny, Michael Jordan sneakers of throttle bodies.

For reference, 4.10's go about 113 in 4th gear, then 5th is useless.

I would recommend getting 4.10's instead of 3.73's. Your top speed won't decrease that much. If you are worried about that, watch this video...

But definately do gears before the TB and plenum.

A good shop can get it done under 2 hours. I paid $200 for the install and brought all my own fluids. Make sure you buy friction modifier!

honestly, after I got gears I wish I had bought the entire set up (differential/axles/gears). Save your money, and then you can run slicks at the track with an aftermarket diff

Ok, i just got a quote from a shop through e-mail saying 350 for labor. Also, he said that i would need a tune. I thought the speed cal that i was getting with the kit corrects the mph. So, why would i need a tune too?
