as ricer as this sounds

i'm never about selling a mustang, but damn dude, just put it out to pasture if its that bad....

if it was me in the situation, i would stop buying parts and start looking for another car. look for a roller with a good body and get a junkyard engine and put in your tranny.

quick look on corral has this one:
94 cobra roller f/s or trade (PICS) - Corral Forums

i would but the transmission we need to rebuild again. so its not even worth using the transmission, considering it was rebuilt wrong so its probably screwed up a couple gears in just driving.

i've been looking for a new car the past couple months and found a few i may be interested in, but my parents don't believe this is a dead horse. i'd be paying for it, but if my mom cosigned with me i could get some decent rates, and my mom doesn't want to. and then i'm on her insurance plan. if i got a new car she told me i'd have to get my own plan.

i've been looking at 96-98 cobras, 99 and 01 cobras and 03-04 mach 1s. i want something that'll have some balls to it right away so i don't have to throw money at it to make it faster unless i want to.

and its not like i have a bad driving record, i have one ticket and thats for the accident i got in the first month i started driving, which was only 2 points i think and they are off my record now. i don't have any criminal record of any kind and i pay for all my own stuff. have had a steady job for almost 2 years now.

Thats funny removing weight from your car to get a better time. I would not remove any weight and run it like that. When your driving on the street and some one wants to race, are you gonna tell them to wait so you can remove weight from your car. Not making fun of you, I just think its funny.

i don't race on the street. so i won't have that problem.

and like charlie allen said, every 100 pound is a tenth in the quarter. so yeah, i want to remove weight.

I have to say man, you will most likely be better off getting a different car. The money you spend rebuilding a motor could pay for at least half of a new mustang of the same year that has a great body, and probably runs nice. I paid $6500 for my car a year and half ago, and it only had 63,000 miles and runs very strong. If you spend $3000 on a motor, that could be like putting half down a car loan for a car that will last. Otherwise, just be patient and do the best you can with what you have... If you can get it back into good shape over the course of a couple/few years, at least you would have a good sense of accomplishment out of it. Ive been in the situation where you put a lot of your money into your car, and it sucks, because you then dont have money for anything else. You have to be able to have money to go out and have fun with your friends and whatnot while you are young. Plus, I dont think any of our parents would let us go out and get a newer Cobra or Mach 1 while we were still on their insurance policy, so I cant blame your Mom on that one. Good luck to you, and as far as weight I think you are on the right track with the front sway bar, dogbone, loose stuff in the trunk, and at most I would only remove the passenger seat.

Wow..sounds like your depressed ok

1st weight reduction...Id just remove the spare tire, jack, passenger seat, and subs if you have any. Any other weight reduction would help but might not be worth the time pulling it out for just one pass imo. If you can lighter wheels on the rear would help a lil if you have access to say some 15" wheels with decent tires.

2nd for the car itself...Doesnt sound like your cars that bad as long as the body isnt rusted bad and doesnt have really shady body work then its worth keeping around if all thats wrong is the engines tired...btw I never had luck with plug fouler things..used them on my 70 chev and ended up taking them off and just replacing plugs frequently.

I understand you wanting a newer car. I dont care to mod my stang much and if I was in the market for a car Id look for a 96+ cobra. I dont know but im sure if you 5.0 is mostly stock and your buddies wrx has any kind of boost mods he will walk by ya know problem....but 5.0 is better in the long run for mods
