Ok, my tray door on my 89 moved freely because the spring is gone. The best I can tell the hinges are fine, the door opens and closes and has no Slope.
Anything special I should check before I order the spring?
Can I replace it with the console still installed or do I gotta pull it?
^^This. And the entire console doesn't need to come out, just the top. Pop the covers off the side, unbolt the armrest, pop the shifter bezel, this exposes four screws that will release the console top. There are a couple of wire couplers that need to be unplugged then it's free. Did mine a few months ago. Late model resto has a you tube video. Real easy. Good luck.
