Hello,
I am considering adding an amplifier and small subwoofer to my 2016 EB Mustang with Sync 3 and Shaker audio - using the factory speakers and head unit. I have looked around but havent been able to find a video or topic talking about the Sync 3 head unit installation.
From what I understand, to add the amplifier, and therefore the subwoofer, a line output converter has to be installed behind the head unit by splicing in the wires from the converter to the wiring harness.

Does anyone know if the process for this is the same as the standard Sync 2 head unit? I have not had the chance to pull the head unit out yet, but want to get some more information before I tear it apart as its my DD.

Has anyone added an amplifier to their S550? I know there are some factory configurations with the stereo but I don't have any information as to how its done at the dealership. I'm guessing with the splicing method, or perhaps a different head/wiring harness combo?

The rest of the process should be fairly straightforward as long as that is the only modification to the OEM wiring I have to do aside from running the amp leads to the battery. I am considering using some of those 'quickconnecters' to splice the wire (as opposed to stripping any OEM wire).

If anyone is looking to install an aftermarket amplifier while using your factory stereo, but do not want to cut the factory wiring harness, check out the FOR-11CK plug and play harness (after connecting the speaker wires from the FOR-11CK to your amplifiers speaker wires).

With newer cars that have a more integrated stereo with Bluetooth, it makes sense to add an aftermarket amplifier mated with your factory stereo to add more punch.
This is the cleanest, easiest, cost effective method to install any aftermarket amplifier. Most can install it themselves since it is plug and play, but if not, labor costs will be a lot less since there will be no hard wiring.

Check the FORD-150/FOR-11CK Forums for detailed instructions on installation.

FOR-11CK is available on Amazon and eBay.

WORKS WITH ALL Factory radios and steering wheel controls also work if available.
