Hi,

I have a 97 automatic. The auto. shifter button is hard to press in especially when it has not been driven for a couple of hours or longer.
I have to use both hands usually to get it out of park.

Any ideas on a fix?

Thanks

Yeah, check the shift interlock switch on the brake pedal. That may have shifted a bit, and it's not fully functioning. Other than that, you may have some debris in the shift lever that's binding with the "rod" that moves up and down in the shifter.

Good Luck!
