auto tranny leak

HI, i recently bought a 89 mustang lx with a 87 mustang gt motor and tranny. It has a bad tranny leak....what are the common causes of a major leak in this style of mustang.

Most likely the pan gasket or tail seal

Hi all,

The tranny is leaking from the front of the transmission. I've been told that it was common (?) for the front seal to leak, and that many times it's the converter and pump that are extremely wore that are acutally causing the leak. Any one else heard either of these possibilities before?
I'll crawl under the car on Friday and pin point the leak.

most likely if in the front its the front pump seal. sometimes it could be the front pump bushing as well.
