I got a friend with an automatic coupe. I haven't had a chance to look at the car yet myself but he claims that he can't shift it out of Park. Anyone got any ideas on what would cause a car to lock up like that?
I had this happen to me because the shift arm under the car on the tranny was hitting up agianst the exhaust pipe. I had to rearrange some things under there and recalibrate the shifter because Drive was neutral and so on.
Try turning your key to the first position (unlock) and then see if you can get it out of park. If that works all you have to do is put it neutral to start it.
all advice has been passed on and I think he's got an appointment at the dealer/mechanic to see whats going on. I'll post what it turned out to be when they figure it out. Thanks
