1996+ auto mustangs have 4R70W's.

The 99 and later 4R70W transmissions are improved over the 98 (and it was improved over the earlier models). Read all about our transmission at TCCoA, Tech Articles/Transmissions/"Transmissions 101", written by a former Ford transmission engineer. The 'shift kit' described in Chapt. 12, 13, 14 (or close) is the "Jerry mod" that you may have read about already.
