autometer autogage tach problem

i have had my 5" autometer autogage tach in for about 5-6 months. the shift light is very hard to set because when i touch the dial the needle starts going crazy and jumpin around everywhere. i was told it was the potentiometer that was bad and i need a new one.

does anyone know what this could be or have any suggestions?? also can i send it back in and get it fixed or replaced??

Is the car on or off when you are playing with it. If I remember correctly you need to try and set it with the car off and just the accersories on. I don't know if this will work or not, but it's a suggestion.

yeah i turn the key forward till the radio and all comes on and try to set it. you cant do it with the car running. but thanks anyway man

i have the auto meter monster tach! and you should be able to set it with the car running or with it off and key on accessories!
