Anyone one here who has a autometer water temp gauge, how did you hook it up. I was told by an autometer tech that there is fitting in the block that can be tapped into but I don't want to mess with that. I was thinking about using a T fitting and tapping into the water temp sensor. Anyway just let me know how you all went about it. Thanks

That's what I did. I put a T-fitting on the water temp sensor located just to the left of the alternator. Works just fine. Oh, and the fitting in the block won't work, tried that and the sensor bottomed out.

The plug in the block is the best place to put it. It is on the drivers side, just in front of the tranny, right above the clutch cable.

No tapping required. The fitting you need comes with the guage.

Don't worry, be happy

Is this location too close to the exhaust? I have the FRPP temp gauge and it is plastic unlike the others that are copper with a wire wrapped around it like a spring. I assume the Ford gauge has a copper pipe as well under the plastic.
I am worried mine will melt. Thanks

I took off my water neck from the intake and tapped that and put the sensor there.

I used the block drain plug for mine. my gauge is electric though so i just have a wire running from it. Very simple to install there though.
