ok, i pulled out the rod where the rotor plugs onto. (auxilary shaft correct?) This is the rod that the distributor cap screws onto(the one i pulled out). My problem is the rotor doesn't spin when i turn over my engine. The timing belt and all other belts on front of engine are new(or were new few months ago when it broke).

There is a gear on this rod towards the bottom. I'm assuming it spins the rotor, however my gear is kind of loose. It's loose enough to spin with a little force from my hands if i hold onto the top where the rotor slides in. It will spin without spinning the rod. It also slides up and down a little bit. 1/8 of an inch. I can see a pin hole through the gear and rod if it's lined up correctly, not sure if that counts for anything though.
Is this supposed to happen?
So do i need to get this part new in order to have the car in working conditions again. (ROLL BACK, car died on highway, couldn't find problem, after 2 days of work looking for loss of spark we took off the distributor cap and noticed the rotor wasn't spinning but the engine cranks over just fine.)

You have to pull the whole distributor.

It's not distributor or Ford specific. It's merely a rolled pin. Available at most auto parts or hardware stores. Length and diameter are critical so take the old one with you to get the diameter right and measure across the gear where the pin goes through to get length.
