Avatar help...please

A little off of car talk but...,I would like to upload a picture of my baby to use as an avatar on here. I have the picture i want saved, but everytime i go to put it on, it says the file is too large, can someone help me please.

file size or dimensions are outta whack for your picture. email it to me jasonjr "at" ev1.net I'll crop it for ya and email it back

I can't even send it, it is that big....it is in some sort of windows format and is about 1.32 MB!!!! I know that is wayyyy too much but i can't figure out how to downsize it or format it??
