Axle Question

Hey I went to a shop and told them that I want to switch axles because I have the stock ones and they, are getting torn up because of the power of my car. So one guy told me to go with the Moser 28spline he said that they are stronger than the stock ones. But I thought switching too 31 spline would be better for me since I am already pushing 380 rwhp and I plan On getting a charger added later on but he said if i would to do that then I need to switch out my traction lock since my posi is set up for 28 spline. Do you guys think is worth spending the extra money and switching to 31 spline or do you think those 28 spline's would work.

I run 28 spline Superior axles, but my RWHP is only 300. If I were up around 400 at the rear wheels I would definitely switch to a 31 spline set up. Better save then sorry.

Are you drag racing the car? And, if you drag race are you using drag radials or slicks? if you're going to a SC and plan on sticky tires....i'd go the 31 spline route and the new Eaton or the new Tru trac diff. The superior 28 splines would be a nice upgrade but for the money spent and having the rear end open i'd go the heavy duty route....but if money is a factor.........

Thats my plan for my 8.8......True Trac, 31 splines and a nice cover.

Yes it is worth it to upgrade to a 31 spline axle and carrier. With that kind of power I would look into a C-Clip Eliminator kit or a 9" bearing end, and a Eaton Posi would be a good choice.

Yea thats what i thought also, And no I plan on putting this thing on the road. Yea I am definitly going to get the c clip because I have one already busted from a race a while ago. So definly get 31 spline, and a eaton posi.
