i read bunch of forums about the cam but i was wondering if it would be a good cam to drive on the street w/ gt40 upper and lower manifold, 65mm tb, 80mm mass air. any suggestions if this cam wouldnt be a good choice?? thanks
Ford motorsports catalog says it makes a bit better HP on the upper rpm's with a little rumble at idle with good low end & mid range power - I actually just took one out of my 1993 GT that has 500 miles on it and went another direction if you want one cheap let me know (pm)
i agree. i have had a couple of cars with the b cam and installed a dozen others for friends/customers. fairly lopey idle and really hits in the upper rpms. i wouldnt recommend for an auto trans w/o a stall. it does have an idle that is a bit rough imo.
I had the B-cam. There are better cams, but it isn't the worse at all. I think I lost about as much bottom end as it gained top end. Can't beat that idle.
I just had Eddy heads & intake put on a freshly done 302 and left my B303 cam in cause with my 1.72 rockers the cam now performs like an X303.
I'm happy with the B303 cam it works well as long as you hook it up with the right combo.
It def has a pretty rough idle. I like it, works good with my ported & polished windsor jr. heads, ported & polished cobra upper & lower, and 1.7 rollers rockers.
It does pull very hard in the high rpms, esp. in 3rd & 4th. I can't complain about the low end torque. Got plenty of that with 4:10's in the rear and a cobra T-5
Yeah, im currently running the "B" cam, its idle is pretty intense, alot more than most other roller cams i've heard, but im guessing from the overlap..But i was running a pretty much built AOD when i put the cam in, but it still had a stock stall..-now i know why they said "manual recommended" in the catolog, lol-..but now i have a converter in and it runs great, and starts pulling around 3,oooRPM, i think its a great street cam with a pretty aggresive sound-
