My car is driving me nuts! I found a burnt wire on the O2 harness and fixed it with a butt connector, this problem is not as bad but it still exists and I dont know where else to start looking, I can be driving my car in 4th gear at 2000 rpm for example, then I can accelerate and it backfires through the exhaust, it will backfire just a little then smooth on out. Anyone have any ideas? It mostly does it when you first start diving the car, the problem seems to no be as frequent once the car is warmed up, It seems like it's coming from the driver side but it could be the passenger side exhaust also :bang:

One thing to look at is if when the wire to the O2s got burned if it was the 12v supply. If it was you might have burned the fusible link that supplies power to the O2s. You might want to pm Ranchero 5.0 because I know that he had the same problem or check out this thread. I know he mentioned it cause I checked mine when I was having idle problems.

That fusible link can be hard to find since I believe it is buried in the wiring harness along the firewall somewhere.
