AWESOME Burnout
My question is how do you smoke first and shift through 3 more gears w/o moving at all I have burned first then when i go to second gear i have to use my foot that WAS on the brake to use the clutch. After doing so i roll on about 100ft of 2nd rubber or go to 3rd and get a little more rubber. Please, Kings of the Tire Roast, help me burn more efficient

sorry for you but a 99+ GT vs. your lightly modded cobra would be a drivers race.

To answer your question though, he probably has a line lock. It locks the front tires and leaves the rears free to spin so you can bake your tires all day long w/o wearing your rear brakes.

Umm NO? I've raced plenty of 96-98 cobras when my car was stock/stockish. I'm a damn good driver and It was NOT a drivers race. Cobra = 40 more horsepower than 99+ GT.

I didn't know that 96-98 Cobras had 300 horsepower from the factory. I guess if you say they have 40 more hp than 99-04 GTs I guess they must.

Then those cobras had more mods then they told you. A stock 99+ GT vs. stock 96-98 cobra is a driver's race... both are good for high 13s w/ a good driver. If we're talking about roll racing on the highway, then yes the Cobra will beat the GT, but from a dead stop, the best driver wins. Just because the Cobra is rated @ 45 more hp than the GT doesn't mean it will alway eat the GT for breakfast.

Oh ok, so the car with LESS horsepower and equal drivers the slower car will win, huh? Uhh no. 40hp is alot. 4>2v anyways

No that's not what I'm saying at all. If you have equal drivers, neither should edge the other out too much. A good driver in the GT will beat a bad driver in the Cobra, and vice versa. I've seen it first hand... my buddy ran his stock 98 Cobra at the track and got spanked by a 2003 GT, but that was because he can't drive.

But I do agree with you that 4V>2V. 4V =

40HP isnt 40HP....the 98 cobras had a very mixed matched design in the heads/intake area. The B port heads want to make power up near 8000RPM, so to combat this they made the intake want to make power near 5000RPM....this just made the #s "look" good.

Basically the heads dont want to make any lowend torque...so your screwed there, and then intake doesnt want to make power up high, and your screwed there. Thats why the car peaks at 5800ish....with the right intake it would peak MUCH higher.

Anyways the cobras are very difficult to get off the line due to no lowend grunt...but on the highway they are decent. The 99-04 GT have a very stout power curve and it comes in much lower and sooner and is more ballenced.

SOOO what this means is that this takes alot of the cobras power advantage away...but in reality given equal capabe drivers, the 98 cobras will beat the 99-04 GTs by about 2 tenths and 2-3MPH. thats not much BTW..."drivers race" like said.

Except one problem, similarly modded older Cobra vs GT the GT will have more TQ And then it IS a drivers race... especially with the Cobra driver launching with IRS.

96-98 Cobras don't have IRS....

I would take a 96-98 Cobra over a 99-04 GT any day. More unique, more power, more fun to drive, 4V!
