BAD battery drain problem, I dunno why.

I have a 91 Lx coupe. I have not driven it much in the last 3 yrs due to many different problems, but mainly the charging/battery system. I have not added anything new electrically (new components that would normally drain a system in use or hooked up wrong). I HAVE switched to a new battery, new starter, new battery cables, and a new alternator... all of which check out to be running correctly.. but my system is draining. To the point where I cannot actually drive it without it running out of juice ON the road.

Would/could a nasty ground at the starter be the culprit? I am wondering if the ground that goes to the body/frame could be bad. I last worked on it over a year and a half ago, and seem to remember it being rather oily under there. Could this be the reason I am getting no charge?

Please give me an idea of areas to search. Thanks in advance.

if the battery drains while driving then the charging system is faulty.

check the alt wiring and the fusible links.

what year is your car so i can look up the diagrams??

Oh sweet man, it is a 91. I am pretty proficient with electrical and mechanical systems. This has me baffled. I haven't taken any readings because it runs sooo poorly right now. That is what led me to think it was the ground

check the starter silonod on the on the fire wall and check the green wire at least its green on my 88 my car did almost the same thing and that was what it was. When i pulled off the nut and pulled the wires off the eye had broken but it looked like it was still attached when i had it all bolted it up put a new eye on and problem gone. hope this helps

Thanks for the advice, I will try this also Well she is covered in 3" of snow and ice right now, so I will once weather gets a lil better.

nope my battery dies cause the damn car don't move. Its been sitting for over a year now.
