bad battery tray, bad

no surprise my battery tray is rusted. that then leaked to the inner fender apron thingie that its connected to so thats rusted too. i have all the replacement parts now but i just have to get them in. first thing is how do i get the welds off that are holding the old inner apron on? than how do i prep the new one because they sent it to me as bare metal? and how do i drill the holes needed to mount it again and do i have to get it welded again like the old one? lots of general questions about fixing this stuff. i wanted to get this done now because my car had just recently been involved in a hit and run so i have no fender so easy access to all this crap. help me out. see ya!

Aplasma cutter would be the best way but a cutoof wheel on a grinder will work. Check your radiator support for rust as this is common in this situation. A professional job might be worth the money here.

I had mine done by a professional a few years ago and I was not totally happy with how it turned out, the welds are obvious. They cut out the rusted parts and welded the new stuff in. Now I would do it myself, cutting wheel and a mig.

I replaced mine for the same reason, purchased my repo one from DallasMustang, took some dolly and hammer work to make it fit right but other than that a perfect fit. I chose to drill out the spot welds all the way through the shock tower side of the panel through the edge and used spot weld drill bit for all the other spot welds all the way around the panel, then cleaned it all up smooth and fitted the new panel and plug welded the panel in from the outerfenderwell area of shock tower (those previous holes i drilled) then grinded them smooth and plug welded the others , completely finished you cant tell it was ever replaced, even though it will never see another battery it looks original.
