Last night my car developed a bad hesitaiton on the highway. At low rpms under load it would buck like it was missing but no code. Today to took it for a drive and its not as bad, but in low rpms i can still feel it, and while it smooths out at higher rpm's it still runs rough and it is down on power. I replaced the fuel filter this morning but it didnt do anything. have to go to work, so i dont have time to check to plugs, but it doesnt feel like a spark issue. It almost feels like a Vaccum or intake leak, but none that i noticed and no codes

Sometimes there will be a code but it won't activate the cel, so maybe try checking for codes and see if anything turns up.

Mines doing the same thing but I think mines a coil pack problem. The local body shop that did my body work sprayed down the engine and didnt dry the motor at all. The car ran like total crap for 2 days and now I have the same problem as you. It kicked off 2 codes that first day for cylinder misfire detected on cylinders 1 and 2.

Get the car dynoed and check out the air/fuel ratio...U may be really Lean with your upgrades. This could be the cause of the bucking, and horrible throttle respone. are u hearing any pinging?????

no pinging at all, the car runs great other than this. But it finaly threw a code yesterdays and i already know what it is. A few days ago my heater hose broke in the 100+ degree weather and sprayed coolant all over the back of my engine. that night i get the misfire which according to the code is cyl # 4......right by the hose, so im sure some moisture just got under the boot. ill check it out today, but ibet thats it.
thanks for your help guys

yeah sure enough that was it. I popped the boot out of cyl #4 plug and it was completely wet. I pulled all the wires out, blew the remaining coolant in the hole with compressed air and replaced all the plugs and wires, car purrs like a kitten again.

87. car runs great on it. never pingged or had any problems with it, so the way gas prices are on Long Island, its good enough.
