Please help. my 94 is having idle and power loss problems. Drove to work today with no problems besides my slightly lopey idle (minor vacuum leak I think) after work started her up... idle was rougher than usual shaking the whole car. and the exhaust note had a weird hollow sound to it with the smell of gas in the exhaust. When I drive the car there is no power when I'm accelerating like I'm driving a V6. made it home with no CE light coming on. ran my codes got a code 33 with engine off then the same code 33 again with engine running (bad EGR I think?). But the real kicker is when I ran the Cylinder balance test it told me the #4 cylinder is dead. I changed distributor, plug wires, ignition module and all plugs within the last 2 months and she was running fine so I don't think it's wiring. I am stuck and any advice would help.

Good advice above. One can also put a timing light on that wire and see if the light works. And a noid light on the injector connector and see if it pulses.

Be real careful: drip a couple drops of water on that cylinder's header pipe. If it is not firing, the water wont immediately steam off.

Now FWIW, you should have had like a code three-hundred thiry something for EGR. That two digit code is for a Fox. Do you know if you have a PIH conversion done on your car?

EGR being open at idle or during acceleration will make the car run like a turd. That is worth lookin into.

Good luck.

thanks for the advice I'll go do that now and give you guys an update
BTW this is my first time reading codes, i did it with a jumper reading the CE light. the exact sequence with the motor off was (FLASH,FLASH,FLASH -pause- FLASH,FLASH,FLASH -5 second pause- FLASH, -pause- FLASH, FLASH, FLASH -pause- FLASH, FLASH, FLASH) as far as I know the car is all 94 GT, However I Bought it cheap from an auction and it had some mods (flows, j&l headers, lowering kit, subs, camber plates, tokikos) is it possible motor is from a fox? how can I tell?

Problem solved! I took your advice and checked wires with timing gun and by swapping them around. turned out #4 plug wire was bad replaced it in 30 seconds and she purrs like a kitten now
thanks again! :flag:

Seems wierd, wouldn't changing the wires around mess things up royaly?
He swapped the wire at both ends. If cylinder 5's wire was bad and he swaps it with cylinder 6's wire (switching the wires at the dizzy cap also) and the miss follows the wire (going from cylinder 5 to cylinder 6), then the wire is likely at fault.

Yeah, if he only swapped the plug-end of the wires, it would run like double poop. :)
