Slander doesn’t belong on this forum. Think before you type. If the statements you make would be unacceptable in a room full of strangers, then they’re unacceptable here. Don’t let the anonymity of the Internet promote disrespect.

Back to the subject of this post:

Alarus, if you are not at fault, fight it with as much information as you can collect. Don’t let the police report and picture intimidate you into submission. When you do finally go to court, be neat, clean, professional, courteous and organized. The outcome could have a huge impact on your future insurance bills.

In the last 25 years, I’ve had two accidents where an officer gave me a ticket. In both cases the officer was wrong. I calmly presented my arguments in court and won both times.

Be sure to let us know how it turns out.

Good Luck

The cop saying that the guy was racing made me mad. I certainly don't have all the facts, but neither does the officer on the scene.

You admit to not having all the facts(including exactly what the officer said/implied/wrote in the report), yet you use this to make a judgement about someone's character? Someone you've never met at that.

I'm not saying Alarus was or wasn't at fault. But you are hearing one side of the story, so you have to take everything with a grain of salt.

As I said, I was in an accident at around the same time. The cop showed up on the scene, saw 21 yr-old male driver and 22 yr-old male passenger in a 2001 Mustang and a 23(ish) female alone in a '93 Camry. Within two hours I had a report stating that the female driver was receiving two citations and I was clear. Hmm...THAT trooper didn't think I was racing because of my Mustang. Maybe I got the only one in the country that uses his brain!!!

And no, I'm not a cop(maybe I will be in a year or so). But I have friends, teachers, and classmates that are cops. I have also ridden with cops as they worked through their shifts. Basically I've had more exposure than those who get pulled over once, and think that single incident fully educated them on the police society.
Like others have said, they have a thankless job, and it angers me to see people opening their mouths to spew **** when they generally have no idea what their talking about. I thought the country was headed in a different direction after 9/11, but I guess that good in people is only temporary.

What I was getting at, was the officer shouldn't be making very many assumptions.

And you witnessed the accident and spoke with the officer to hear his opinion directly?

The officer should be looking at all the facts, just as the courts should be looking at all the facts. Sure its difficult to decide what the facts are with differing witness statements, but it has to be done.

Well...I'll just get Jesus on the phone and see if he wants a junior G-man badge.

MetriX, I think it just really boils down to your using a highly offensive stereotype to charactarize the police officer in question. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and I don't think any has an issue with that. But using the "donut eating pig" remark is equivalent to using the ever so famous "N-word". You just don't do it without upsetting alot of people. I don't think you really meant to insult police officers in general, but that's how it's taken regardless.

In the interest of peace, I've removed my offending comments.

This is counter productive, so I move that this issue be closed.

Hey guys, im just giving the update on what happened, i finally went to court in late november, they charged me with reckless driving, pinned me with a $500 fine and 6 months probation. as for witnesses, the problem was that there were none... mine and my passengers word vs him and his passangers, they were both in there 70's and my passanger and i are both 19, so they had the cop and there age on there side. As for people saying that the cop said i was racing, i had asked a few of the e.m.t.'s andthey all confermed it, i am not bad-mouthing cops in general, just some can be real D*^*) and judgemental, i beleave what the problem was is that he was losing money wile he was at the scene of this accedent, and he saw my car wich he had seen where he worked at the time a few times, i was working in the same area, i think (not saying for sure) that he wanted me to do somthing wrong so he could get me for somthing, my car bugged alot of people because i had cherry-bombs on it, and i had the stereo set up pretty good and liked to use it. I am now trying to get the money together to get another 71-73, i am buying a 81 firebird to fix up and sell for the money, i paid 500 for this car and beleave i can fix it and sell it for enuf money to get back to the stangs.
On another note i might have a settelment check soon that i can get a good one with, i was in another accedent this time i had many witnesses saying it was NOT my fault. I was in a '03 durango pulling a boat, at a stop light when the light turned green i went, about halfway through the intersection i checked to make sure every one was indeed stoping at that time i saw a dump truck headed right for me, the truck had lost his breaks, slamed into me and pushed me into another car, after about 5 min police were at the scene gathering info on the accedent. the durango was so smashed up that they had to cut me out of it. They airvaced me to the same hospitle as before, and did x-rays, and a catscan of my ribs, nothing was broken and i was able to walk out of the hospitle that night.

I just spent the best part of an hour at work reading this thing off and on, Man that sucks, Sometimes you get the shaft but you just have to take it and stride. You will bounce back, get that firebird fixed up, sell it, then get your stang back. The good thing is prices of the 71-73's aren't ridiculously high right now, so you should be ok in that area. Finding one however may be a little harder. I have only had 1 bad experience with the law but everything got worked out in court, another time got pulled over going 84 miles per hour pulling a jet ski to the lake on memorial weekend, he stopped me asked a few questions about the boat and then sent me on my way no hostile feeling towards the law here,

I've been wondering how you made out. You sure are a magnet for trouble, i'll say that much.

Perhaps it's time to consider something more sturdy, without having to give up your love of Mustangs.

I may be a trouble magnet, but i get out lucky, between the last 2 accedents ive been in i should be dead, and ive been able to walk away from both of them, the first took a cupple days but i was still able to walk...the firebird project is coming along nicely, today we were able to gut the intirior out of it, i would have been able to do more but at the place im at right now theres a shortage of tools and my back just cant handle alot right now. I accually plan on doing this car(81 Firebird Espirit) right, in the next coupple days were gonna be taking whats left of the engine out and re-doing the bay, im gonna go through the wireing and make sure none of its bad, there isnt much rust on this car so i wont have many problems from that. Its been a dry desert car all its life so that helps out alot. the body is really straight and i havent found any bondo on it yet (just been tapping to find it) other than on the hood but the hood is from a diff car, but the pain is shot (sun fade) so im gonna have my work cut out for me.

I just hope that by the time i get the money ill still be able to find a decent 71-73 for a lower price, all my friends are telling me to get a 60's but i like the 70's because it was my first car.

Well its been a long time since ive been on and thought you guys deserved to hear from me, everythings moving along pretty good with the firebird i got a sbc400 thats built for mild performance and a th400 trans in it, put the same seats in it that i had in my stang, and doing the dash in it just hard to get any help on the firebird fourms i have to wait 3 days to get a good reply, and hear it was always about 10 min and id have one
To get to the point i dont think ill be able to get another stang for a wile, i checked the insurance for one and it was in the 200's for liability....
