Bad throwout bearing?

Hey guys, ever since I bought this car, it seems to have a whining sound while lightly accelerating in 3rd gear. The whine stops when you depress the clutch. Does this sound like a TOB? If so, how hard is it to replace?

The TOB tends to make a chirping noise even in neutral so I don't think it's a TOB. does it do this in any other gears. because mine does the same thing in second gear only and i know it's internal damage to the trans. My car has been whining in second for 15-20k miles now and I still powershift it every time i drive it atleast a few times, and it has not gotten worse.

I hear it a little bit in 2nd gear, but hardly noticeable at all. 3rd gear whines the worst, and seems to be most audible when its cold.

you can try to change the trans fluid and see if that helps.

Yea, my TOB is squeaking too and it almost sounds like a belt squeak, but chirps a bit more and comes from under the car. Yours just sounds like tranny whine

I already tried changing the trans fluid, didn't make any difference. Is this transmission whine anything to be concerned about?

it's a sign of wear ont he trans but I would not be worried about it. as I have said in other posts, mine does the same thing and has done so for many miles now.

So who knows it may last 10 years like that or it may blow up in a week. personally I would not worry about it untill it's blown up.

Probally is throw out bearing. When i first got my car i had alot of strange noises. Then it started sqeauling out of no where.

TOB noise would not be dependant on being in thrid gear. in fact TOB noise is most noticable when your stoped.
