Bad Tie Rods?

Here's my problem. When I turn either left or right i hear a lot noise.. click click click.. also, there is play in the steering wheel. I can turn the steering wheel a little left or a little right (depeding on which way im turning) before the car actually starts to turn.

It makes for a very uneasy ride at high speeds and it makes the car seem flimsy. Im thinking it's bad tie rods but im not sure.. what do you all think?

I doubt it's the tie rods. Most likley, considering all your symtoms it is the rag joints in the steering shaft. Next most likley cause would be the steering gear (rack), next up would be the strut mounts, then I would look into ball joints and tie rods. Lift the car up and see if you get any free-play.

agreed with Jason (rag joints came to mind as a more likely problem).
