Today i got my car out and changed the oil and cleaned it, well it has a really bad vibration when i am driving above 2 grand. It rattles so bad that the change rattles out of the console. The motor mounts and transmission mounts are new so it couldnt be because of that. I think U joints but i thought i would throw the idea past your guys

Wow, this question seems to pop up everyday. Does the vibration get worse as rpm's increase? Check out your driveshaft. Put the rear of the car on jackstands, chock the wheels, put the car in gear and watch the driveshaft turning. If it's way out of round, you can usually see it. While the car is up, you can also inspect the u-joints. Kind of funny that it would all of a sudden start doing it. Has it done this in the past?

Yeah, have a look at your harmonic balancer with the engine running. Does it appear to wobble?

Do some road tests to make sure it is RPM dependant and not speed. Could be a warped rim, lost wheel weight, etc.

So there was no hint of a vibration before the oil change...hmm...you may have knocked something loose while doing the oil...

Check driveshaft, fan, balancer,....if it is the driveshaft go ahead and get a new aluminum driveshaft...it comes with new u joints already on it plus less rotational mass...every little bit helps

OK well i found out what the problem was i jacked up my car and shook the living hell out of my driveshaft, nothing. So i thought it was my tranny, well i was goin down the road lastnight and i heard a popping noise, since the car is almost 20 years old i didnt think anything of it, then i smelled antifreeze. I poped the hood and it was everywhere. I eventually got some antifreeze and poured it in, the water pump bearing shattered and it was leaking out of the hole in the bottom. Then the part that the pully bolts on beat the pump housing a oval shape instead of a circle so i replaced it, and everything is fixed and all is well if i can get my digital camera fixed i will post pics of the pump housing. Metal chunks were falling out of the pump water jackets. anyways thanks for the help. It is appreciated
