bad vibrations... rear end?

my 66 is shakey around 40mph it feels like its coming from the rear and also when its in drive and its moving on its own idle theres a lumpy feel coming from the rear. what could possible reasons?

Your engine idles smoothly I assume?

Sounds like something is bent, a wheel maybe.

my car just started doing that at 80 then 70 then 60 then 40. ring and pinion seem to have a lot of slack in them. i figured theyve had it. i ordered a new center section with posi and 3.80's for my 8 off of ebay

When you've got the axles loose to change the 3rd member, check them for straightness.

could be as simple as an out of round tire, maybe ply seperation, jack it up put it on stands and spin the wheels slow, look to see if they are still round.
