Baer Brakes

Okay. First, I'm not going to flame Mustangs Plus. That's not my point. I sent an email asking them for help. It said that I was aware they push the SS Brake product but that I wanted to go with Baer. I told them what the Baer kit came with and that my car was a 67 with manual drum brakes all around. What I asked for was what else I might need besides a power booster and a proportioning valve. I kind of figured they'd be familiar with Baer enough and have dealt with enough people putting in power boosters to lend me a hand.

But basically the first comment in return was how I should go with SS Brake Corp. Sorry, big turn off there.

So if there is anybody in here that has done the project I'm going to do next.. please let me know what else I may need to get the job done. What power booster...or what prop. valve... etc.. etc....

Okay.... let me say this also. To be fair. I have to admit that I like the name of Baer. And they look cool too. I like the cross-drilled rotors. Maybe I have to look closer to see if that's an option with SS.

Okay... let's start over.

I want performance.. as well as looks.

This is my plan..

My car is as follows. 1967 Fastback with manual drums all around.
Eight inch rear. I'm not planning on converting to a 9" in the near
future. I have Vintage 45 wheels, 17x8 in front, 17x9.5 in back.

I will autocross. And rarely quarter mile the car.

I do crave a five speed... but that's a few year out.


If you could put together a quote for me on the following it would
help me with my decisions. And if it's possible to give some sort
of price break because of the amount I'd be buying... along with
the amount I've already bought, I'd appreciate it greatly and would
likely go with your product.

What I want:

The biggest rotors in front I can get. Likely 13". I would like the
rotors in the rear to balance the fronts. Would you suggest the 10.5
or the 11.25"? I would like the calipers to match each other as best
as they can simply for an appearance standpoint. I plan to drive the
car hard... but I want it to look good also. I'm sure you understand.

I want the gas slotted rotors. I'm not sure if I want powder coated
calipers because I don't know what color I'd select. The car will be
painted eventually and I have no idea what color. So I'm thinking
polished is the way to go. The extra life conditioning is probably
a wise addition also considering where I live and that the car is not
a daily driver. The rotors rusting up would look terrible.

I need a power booster. Please recommend. The car currently has a
C4. But like I said... someday it will get a Tremec.

Please, if you can, be as detailed as possible with the price quote
and what I will all be receiving. I just got back from doing my taxes
last night and the wife has given me the green light.

When we thaw out up here and I get the car out of storage I'd like to
just be able to call you up and have the parts order go as smooth as
possible.

If you read carefully.. I'm doing it for both performance and "fashion". There is no reason both cannot be obtained. Also, this is autocrossing. Not 24 Hours at Daytona. Heat should not be of too much concern. Although I will give you the fact that powder coating will contain the heat and therefore may not be a good idea. Polished looks to be the way to go.
