Hey guys,

I recently replaced the stock 6x8's in the door of my '97 (mach 460). But ever since the replacement, I have noticed that the bass has been going in and out, especially when I turn up the master volume. The new "bass" are simple pioneer 6x8's with 240 watt max. input. I went back and checked my work, even soddering the wires in place. Could it be a fuse issue? Or is there not enough juice? Thanks in advance!

So, the mach 460 is at 8 ohms or 6 ohms? I talked with a stereo guy here and he said that 4 ohms should not be going in and out like that, but it's what it is. I want to stay stock, but am having troubles locating any stock mach 460 6x8's...any suggestions?

Thanks man, that helps a lot, yet it confuses me even more. The site says that everything is at 4ohms...so I still am confused as to why the bass keeps going in and out then? Bad amp possibly?

Possible on the amp or maybe the speakers. You said you fixed the problem though in the second reply to this post. It came back?

....the cat came back ...the very next day...sorry. heh

Well, I thought that the system was on 6 or 8 ohms, hence why the bass was going in and out. But it is still doing it...I installed some pioneer 6x8's after I blew the passenger side mid range to make the sound match up. I was running the stock ford mid range with the new pioneer for awhile, but decided to put the other one in after I noticed the bass going in and out. I've basically looked anywhere and everywhere to solve the issue. My guess now is that the mach 460 amp doesn't like the new speakers...should I try another brand...?

I'm having the same problem after replacing my front Mach 460 speakers with aftermarket infinitis. Bass goes in & out. So it's probably not a bad amp. Hopefully some answer will come out of the forum.

I am almost certain mach speakers are 6 ohms, the system is wired in parallel giving an impedance of 3 ohms. Using 4 ohm speakers would drop the impedance to 2 ohms and send the amplifiers into protection mode so they don't overheat.

could be the amp. if you didn't already, you should check all the fuses.

I thought the MACH systems pushed 2 Ohms to the speakers?

Speakers are not replaceable with aftermarket in the Mach system. You have to find Mach speakers or replace the entire system.
