I heard they make really good power throughout the entire power band.

Mid-length headers work (scavenge) every bit as well as LT headers and usually give you better ground clearance to boot.

The Bassani's are top notch quality, and their price reflects this.

The mid-lengths rock. Great power, sound, fit, build quality, etc. Be advsed, should you have to pull the tranny, rent a slide hammer and remove the collectors - so much easier.

How long or how much labor am I looking at. I installed the exhaust myself but I don't think I am going to do the headers!

It took me 10 hours flat-backing it. There are countless threads devoted to header installation on the 4.6 sohc - you need a pretty good arsenal of hand tools and lots of patience. While it isn't very difficult, it is quite tedious.

I installed the Bassani's myself.. and I'm no Mr. Goodwrench either!

They come as separate tubes which then have the collectors slip fit.

If you go with the Bassani X-Pipe with cats, they also have adapters to remove the cats.

The key is to jack the engine the right amount as you install this... I'm 50 yrs old and did it in 90+ heat., so save the install money and get these excellent stainless headers.

As far as sound quality is concerned, none of them are "bad" for these headers per say. These are going to sound pretty much like any other header you buy, with slight distinctiveness....but it's nothing that won't be changed as soon as you add your mid-pipe and cat back. As it is, you're probably best off to go with Basanni's mid-pipe along with their headers, since the headers themselves are mid-length and won't mate up to a standard long or short X/H-pipe without a set of custom down tubes. Some people don't like the sound of chambered mufflers with an X-pipe, but I had a custom Bassani X-pipe with Mac's Flowpath Cat back on my old 5.0L and it sounded great.

Sound is subjective, so take each opinion with a grain of salt.
