About every couple of months my battery cable connectors get horribly built up with battery acid residue. This always ends up causing a problem with starting until I throughly clean them. It is pretty annoying to say the least. I also think it is causing me to have charging issues. What could be the cause of this buildup? Do i need new positive/negative wires? thanks

I always clean them with terminal cleaner (neutralizes the acid) clean the residue with a rag and some brakleen and then use the red terminal protector spray to prevent it from returning. Never had a comeback when Ive done it like that.

Baking soda and water will neutralize the acid that builds up around the terminals. I usually give mine a little spray with some WD40 every now and then to keep them from gunking up and it seems to work pretty well.
