I just bought a new battery cable assembally for my 96Gt, the problem is there is no wire in the assembly for the oil level sensor. I was going to use the old one but there is no where to plug the wire into, if anyone can help Thanks.

Please explain your problem better. I have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.

Clearify

My negitive battery cable was completely shot so I wanted to replace it. In order to replace the neg or pos cable youy have to by a wire harness that includes the pos, neg and, a lot of connectors and mounting brackets. On the new harness there is no wire for the oil level indicator which was present on the harness that came off of my car. It its a ford part and the guys at 50resto(where i bought the part from) said that is how ford makes the cable assembly now. So how do I reconnect the oil level indicator?

sounds like they sold you one for a 1997 or 1998 as those years do not use a low oil sensor, 1996 was the only year for a LOS on a Mustang. so you can do 2 things, use the cables you got and not worrie about the LOS, or return it to them and see if they can get you the right one.

You can just run another wire like ^^ said.

Or you could buy terminal connectors like I did mine:

Which would make running a new wire simple. Just a thought.

Running the wire wasn't an option, there was no where to attach the wire w/o using the old plug. To much cutting and crimping. Works fine w/o the LOS. Who needs a LOS anyway, it's like a V6 (made for women). Thanks

I ran into the same problem when I replaced the battery cables on my 96 cobra. Ford no longer offers a harness for the 96s which were the only ones with oil level sensor, so you recieve the 97-98 style. I think there is a pigtail you can buy and wire it in some how, but I didn't care and left it alone.
