my car is an 2002 GT 89k miles.... I have an aftermarket amp installed for just my subwoofers when the bass hit the lights use to never dim... but now that has started so I replaced the battery with an optima in hopes of stopping some of the diming but it is exactly the same as before...my car drives fine and the alternator seems to work perfectly is it possible for the voltage regulator in the alternator to stop working?...but the alternator still charge and run my car??... thanks

I have the same problem because im running 2 12" infinities and two 1200 watt amps and can make the lights dim if i crack er up. Go to your favorite audio store and ask them if they have capacitors (caps is what the gerneral shortened term is) Im guessing you'll need a half fared or 1 fared cap. This is basically a temp battery which will give your amp the juice it needs to perform. The size of the cap depends on the size of your amp and how high you have it cranked up.

well everytime you hit a bass note, the amp drains the battery alot and the alternator is put into a higher load to compencate. So like previously posted get a capacitor and it will solve your problem and your charging system wont take a huge hit everytime a bass note hits
