Are these any good? I need some headers to take advantage of the cams. May be going somewhere with smog soon( I am in the Navy). Any info is appreciated.

yeah i wanted to get a set of BBK GT tuned headers their near equal length shorties but never really got into reading up . I hear that their good though

shortys don't show great gains unless with a power adder, still be better off with LTs either way.

So you are saying I won't get any gains? Can't get LT's b/c of emissions Not my fault. Anyway car was dropped off yesterday for the install. This thing will breathe & sound alot better. Going to get it to the dyno.

actually, I am going off of stock internals numbers, On NA engines , shorties have shown very small gains. Nothing like the LTs. With the cams and other stuff you have, may be better. Hate you can't go the LT way. Look foward to the new numbers.

get lt headers, mac sells a shorty midpipe with cats if emmisions is a concern.

I live in IL and I assume I will pass when I take emmisions as the rear o2 sensor eliminations fake out the cpu of the car into thinking it is working properly and all they do in IL is hook up to the OBD 2 plug to see if emmisions are functioning properly.

also, i should pass the visual inspection because the mac prochamber kinda looks like a cat, i doubt the dumb emmisions guy will question me on it.

he said he already took it in for the install... hope to see some numbers after the install lets us know... he BTW i am also in the navy but I am registered in Florida so I dont have any emmisions testing... I take it you are going to Ca?

I am going to Bahrain then Cali... LT's would fail the visual. I really need to get it to the dyno.
PS. I tried to get Va but the detailer wasn't having it.

I wouldn't do shorties, doesn't seem worth it to me. What about Mid lengths?

I got the chrome equal tuned shorties for my car. I already had Flows on it and it gave it a better deeper sound, I've had them for 3 months and I love the drone that comes out of the exhaust. I did feel a better low end pick up, you are going to waste your gas faster b/c you will love the feeling of the pick up. I have not taken it to the track yet so I can't tell if you gained anything.

Hey once you get it done let us know. I'm thinking shorties myself for future emission reasons, future tranny/clutch reason, and it's supposedly only a 10hp difference.

Staying emissions legal is tough but worth it if you live in a state that checks and has hefty fines for being found at fault. Money no object, adding shorties and a lighter K-member combo would be the way I would love to go. Even if the shorties don't add all that much the weight taken off with the new K-member would be worth it in the straightline and the twisties.

Mine are installed. I get the car back this weekend. The BBKs have much longer individual headers than the stock or JBAs. Just dont believe the BS posted in 5.0 magazine. Their numbers were completely made up, by someone who didnt know enough about hp/tq to make them even agree with each other!

I'll get a dyno shortly, but I have also added a BBK plenum and TB since my last dyno also. It'll still give us some idea of what they were worth.

My buddy has JBA's on his Steeda & the BBK's look alot better. If you put them up beside the stock ones there is a big difference. My car should pull alot better, it pulls like a 4.6 DOHC as it sits now

this comes up all the time, you will loose low and mid range torque, where you are driving the most and maybe pick up 5 to 10 hp up top, power adder or not ! KB has done numerous dyno tests-they acually saw little or no gain ! good luck though ! IMO The mustang mags always seem to make the numbers look good for their sponsors

I have the shortys coated from them. If I could go back I'd get SS ones and have them ceramic coated at a shop, and I had to port the insides a bit, but over all worth the money. And install wan't too bad either.

If your going to cali...they will fail you as soon as they hear the car. I dont believe the VT cams carry a CARB #. I think your pretty much screwed, even with stock cats you will probably fail the emision test too. ANYTHING that does NOT carry a CARB # will have to be replaced if im not mistaken. Thats going to suck if you have to pull the cams every 2 years.
