I have been looking at these now for a few days and seems like most people like these headers. Im still open to suggestions though. Anyways, I was looking to see how much work it takes to put a set of these in when I already have a Magnaflow O/R X-pipe installed. I am just guessing but it looks to me that the x will have to be cut some to make room for the LT's. Is this true? And has anyone found a set of these for under $500??

the only big knock agaist them is you can't pull the transmission (pass side is in the way). that would make me go elsewhere. ethier hooker longtubes, bassani midlengths, or jba is going to be releasing mid lenghts soon. I know my luck 1 month after I put my headers on I would nuke my clutch or something.

If you don't mind the tranny thing go for it.

as for install never done one. I have heard that pulling the k-member saves you a big headache.

No sugar coating here. It is a lot of work putting Longtubes in. If you can swallow the price, opt for the SLP longtubes and x-pipe. BBK's seem to have the most consistent success. Just plan on spending a day or two installing them depending on the tools you use and you know what you are doing.

If your able to take your time on the install it will go smoother than you think...and also that xpipe (like you said) will need to be either cut and fitted or you need to buy a new one for longtubes...Good Luck with whatever you decide...

I don't know about the lifting part but I dropped my K member and lower the engine to reach all the bolts with a "shorty" open ended 1/2" wrench on the passenger side.

It definately can be a pain going the L/T route, but to me the gains are worth it. I know that as soon as I get the L/T's in Ill have clutch problems lol so I just decided to save a bit extra dough and get a Spec Stage II put in at the same time . Good thing is I wont have to worry about my clutch going south, bad news is I cant romp on the car right away since Ill have to break the clutch in for around 500 miles After that though, its time to give her HELL!!!!

If you are not mechanically inclined, then have it done by a professional shop. I can tell you that is a PITA to install those bad boys.

do clutch at the same time , once you get them on , im sure you will learn all the ways to bend your arm to get to all the bolts , undo both motor mounts and lift that motha way up after you undo the emissions tube on the drivers side and steering coupler , not that bad , just time consuming , i love mine , wish i had did clutch at same time though

Put my BBK LT's in about a year ago. Had to lift the engine, and took about a day. I can't say they were fun to install, but sure worth the pain.

You could cut your midpipe or you could get another one made for the Lt's and sell your other one. I'm sure it's been said already, I didn't read all of the replies. I put in Mac Lt's, I'm sure the install is just as fun. We didn't pull the k member, but we did lift the motor a few inches. What ever route you decide to go with, if you are doing it in a driveway or someones garage, just make sure you jack the car up high enough so you have ample room to work under there. good luck

All i can say is if you have a couple extra bucks, not only should you do the clutch at the same time, but throw a Tubular k-member in there while your at it. Makes it a lot easier if you have to drop tranny in the future.
