BBK Longtubes hitting steering shaft

I know this has been discussed before but I couldnt find a definative answer. When I had stock heads the shaft cleared the longtubes by a few millimeters. Now that I've gone to GT40P's it rubs. I just need a few millimeters again for it to clear, anyone have any suggestions?

With my mac LT's I had to dent them a little with a hammer to get them to clear the shaft. This was the part that took the most time, took me about an hour to lift the engine disconnect the shaft and install the headers, what took me the rest of the day was having to put them in and take them out again about 6 more times till they cleared.

Id say give the headers a little dent. Are those aftermarket shafts even any smaller than a stocker?

Dont the GT40 heads have a different exhaust location than the stockers? maybe that caused the issue

Offset steering rack bushings will gain you some clearance between the headers and the steering shaft. I also loosened the steering column inside the car, and moved it to gain additional clearance. Between the two methods (each gained me about an 1/8"), I gained enough clearance so that my headers and steering shaft do not rub.

Not sure how your motor mounts are but when I put in my equal length shorties they were just rubbing, replaced the mounts and all's good now.

I brought my shaft to a machine shop and had it shaved down a hair where is was rubbing. It's mint now
