I just installed my BBK o/r H and love it. The only problem I am having is the drivers side pipe is hitting my transmission crossmember. This is on my 1997 Cobra. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions on how I can get the pipe further away from the crossmember??? Thanks!!!

My BBK O/R H-pipe use to do the samething once in a while on my 96. When I sold it to my buddy with a 98 cobra it did it also. The way he fixed it was he beat in the pipe with a hammer a little bit where it was hitting. Very simple fix, I had to do the same procedure with my flowmaster catback tailpipes.

I've had similar problems on past cars. For an easy fix I would was get some of that header wrap fabric/insulation and wrapped it around the area on the pipe where it hits the crossmember. Always eliminated the clanking noise and kept the heat off of the crossmember, at least til it wore through.

Mine does this on my 94 GT, is there a way we can move the pipe over towards the passenger side a little, or do we have to use the "hammer" option?

What does this noice sound like. I have an offroad h-pipe on my 03 cobra, and it has started this wierd noise on the drivers side, and it is most prominent when the car is around 2500 rpms in 3rd,2nd or 1st gear. It kind of sounds like something is either rubbing or loose, so I was wandering what your noise sound like. Mine is only present when the car not under acceleartion, but just letting the rpms drop back down. Peace!

You lost me when you said it only did it under deceleration. If it's not doing it under acceleration, then I don't know, that's the only time mine does it, and it's just the pipe knocking against the transmission crossmember. Maybe somebody else knows though.

I took it to an exhaust shop and they heated the pipe and was able to bend it down a little so no more rubbing.

Okay, I am not sure if this is the problem with your set-up, but here it is. Last time I had the t/o bearing changed, I noticed what sounded like a rattle coming from the exhaust. It only happened at low rpm, at least that was the only time I could hear it. It turned out to be the trans. crossmember and the stock h-pipe rubbing. Rotated the crossmember 180 degrees and have not had the problem since. I think that one of the areas in the crossmember is slightly larger and allows more room. So you might give that a try and see if it works.
